Titanium electrode characteristics
The full name of the titanium anode is the titanium-based metal oxide layer (MMO) anode, also known as the DSA anode, which is a dimensionally stable anode.
It is based on titanium (wires, rods, tubes, plates, meshes, etc.), The precious metal coating is brushed on a titanium base to make it have good catalytic activity, electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance.
Compared with pristine graphite anode and lead anode, titanium electrode has the following advantages:
1. Stable electrode size and electrode spacing will not change during electrolysis, ensuring that electrolysis is performed under stable cell voltage condition,
2.High catalytic activity, low working voltage,
3.Small power consumption and DC power consumption can be reduced by 10% - 20%
4.The long working life of titanium anodes and metal anodes in the chlor-alkali industry are manufactured by the diaphragm method which is resistant to chlorine and alkali corrosion. The life of the anode reaches more than 5-7 years, while the life of the graphite anode is only 8 months.
5.It can overcome the dissolution problem of graphite anode and lead anode, avoid contamination of electrolyte and cathode products, thus greatly improving the purity of metal products
6.Can improve current density, increase electrolytic efficiency,
7.The oxides of the precious metals iridium and ruthenium are resistant to oxidation, so the titanium electrodes have strong corrosion resistance,
8.It can avoid the short circuit after the deformation of the lead anode, in order to improve the work efficiency,
9.Titanium electrode is light in weight so it can reduce labor intensity compared to graphite anode and lead anode.
10.Titanium matrix shape and manufacture is easier and can be highly refined.
